24-Music Man StingRay Bass

Based on the serial number B001825 stamped on the 3-bolt neck plate and the visual details, this is a desirable vintage Pre-Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Bass:

• Year of Manufacture: Circa 1976–1977 (The "B00" serial prefix on a 3-bolt neck plate, radio-style knobs, string-through body, and epoch epoxy pre-amp identify it as an early Pre-Ernie Ball model).

• Finish: Classic 3-Tone Sunburst with a 1-piece Maple neck.

Estimated Resale Value

$3,000 – $4,500 USD (Market Range)

• Condition Considerations:

  • Good / Player's Condition ($3,000 – $3,600): Shows moderate finish wear, tarnishing on hardware/plate, and minor nicks/chips around the edges (as seen in the photos). Includes a soft gig bag (Ritter) rather than the original hardshell case.

  • Very Good Condition ($3,800 – $4,500+): If all internal electronics (preamp, pots) and pickup coils are 100% original and verified without modifications.

Key Factors Affecting Valuation

• Originality: Pre-Ernie Ball StingRays retain peak value when all pots, pickups, dates on the neck/body pocket, and electronics remain untouched and original.

• Case: Original hardshell cases (OHSC) typically add $200–$400 to collector value compared to an aftermarket gig bag.

• Weight: Lighter Pre-EB StingRays (under 9.5 lbs / 4.3 kg) often command higher demand.
